On Spec for Alan C - Genuine Ruby Earrings, 5.1mm x 0.82 Carat, Round Cut, Sterling Silver Post Earrings

*¨¨*:•: Sorry Folks, this one's a Reserved Listing & not for public sale :•:*¨¨*

These earrings feature a pair of authentic earth-mined, heat-treated red rubies set in Argentium* silver settings.

The gems were ethically mined in Madagascar and are nicely cut, showing neat faceting and flawless unblemished surfaces. Both are transparent and size and colour matched, with eye clean internal clarity (technically 'VSI') 'SI' and good colour - a deeply saturated 'cardinal red' with a bright inner fire in candy pink and magenta tones. The clean uniform colour is in part a product of a laboratory treatment process** the gems have undergone to improve their hue and internal clarity.

Alone, each ruby weigh 0.82 carats and measures 5.1mm diameter. Along with their solid Argentium settings they measure 5.5mm (wide) x 14mm (long) and weigh a fraction over half a gram each.

As with all Salon Petite stud earrings, the prong tips have been micro polished to limit the chances of the metalwork catching in hair or on clothing, and both Argentium silver butterfly clutches and clear silicone stoppers are supplied for your comfort and convenience in fitting.

* ... Argentium silver is a modern sterling alloy containing a metalloid called Germanium which reduces the tendency of the silver to tarnish and increases its natural shine. As the compound retains the 92.5% pure silver content of the traditional alloy it is however still referred to as 'Sterling Silver'.

** ... specifically, a treatment process called 'Lead Glass Enhancement'. This is an industry-standard treatment process for rubies in which the micro fissures and cavities within the natural ruby have been infused with tiny amounts of molten crystal chandelier glass under very high temperature. Most gem grade rubies selling for less than around $1000/carat enjoy this enhancement process these days. As well as improving the clarity and colour of the natural ruby this cosmetic process also lowers their investment value, which is why I'm able to offer them here at what - for technically 'genuine' rubies - is such a strangely low price.
