About the components of this piece:
Garnet~ Garnet is mostly known as a deep red colored stone, but actually garnets come in a wide range of colors. The name garnet originates from the Latin word granatum meaning seed or grain. Garnets are formed from a complicated blend of silica, aluminum, calcium, iron and magnesium, with the various garnet types being a special blend along with impurities of chrome, chromium, vanadium and other elements. Garnets metaphysical properties: Health, removing negativity, awareness, commitment, regeneration, order, insight.
Peridot~ Peridot is a beautiful sparkly green gem born in the fire of volcanoes and sometimes found in meteors that have fallen from the cosmos to earth(meteors are not used for beads). It is because of its unique birth place that peridot is referred to as the volcanic gem and by native Hawaiians as Pele's tears. Peridot is a form of olivine also known as Magnesium Iron Silicate and it's the concentration of iron that gives Peridot its beautiful green color. Peridot ranges in color from illustrious grassy green to a deeper medium green. Peridot has been mined as a gemstone for an estimated four thousand years or more! Peridot's metaphysical properties are said to aid in the balance of ones' will with ones' emotion, and to decrease fear.
Pink Topaz ~Topaz has been used for centuries in jewelry making and the name 'Topaz' is thought to be derived from the ancient Sanskrit word tapas meaning fire. In its unaltered state topaz is a brown or yellow stone. Pink Topaz started out as a brown topaz that contain chromium impurities that have been heated to bring forth the beautiful vibrant pink color. The pink color is stable to light. Metaphysical properties: Pink Topaz is said to be a powerful protecting stone as it aids in balancing and calming, helps to deflect evil and greed, and promotes creativity, love and hope.
Vesuvianite~ Is a bright to dark olive green colored stone with a glossy shine. Vesuvianite has a calcium aluminosilicate composition and it was first discovered on Mount Vesuvius in Italy and was named after this location. Vesuvianite's spiritual properties: awakening heart, enthusiasm, higher self, inner security, dissolves anger alleviates fear and negativity.
Ruby~ Ruby is a form of corundum and after a diamond is the next hardest known mineral on the planet! It is made up of Aluminum Oxide and contains chromium impurities which produce its red color. The prettiest, deepest red shade of ruby is often referred to as "pigeon blood red," but ruby can range from deep red to pink! Metaphysical properties: Ruby is said to be a protective and healing stone that facilitates romantic love, happiness and generosity.
"Lab Created" gemstones such as Ruby and Sapphire are made up of the same elements as their natural gemstones counterparts, but they are grown in a laboratory under perfect conditions in a much shorter period of time. They have all the same qualities as a real gemstone except they have no natural flaws or inclusions, in other words they are perfect, flawless stones with the same light refraction, hardiness and feel of a natural mined gemstone.
Gold filled~ A plating by soldering, welding or other mechanical means of gold alloy of not less than 10 karat fineness over sterling silver, when the plating constitutes at least 1/20th of the weight of the metal in the entire article. Electroplating is not part of the process. Additional Information from Wikipedia “Gold-filled items, even with daily wear, can last five to 30 years but will eventually wear through. ... Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 17 to 25,000 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold-filled_jewelry
