FAQ: What is the standard belly ring gauge?

FAQ: Why are many of your belly rings 20g instead of the standard 16-14g belly rings?
My belly rings are unique in that they are handmade and they incorporate beads. Most small beads do not have holes large enough to accommodate 16-14g wire. Therefore, I use 20g wire (the same width as earring posts). I have recently found some beads that do have larger holes and so I have added some 16g rings. They are listed under they 16g Belly Ring section.
FAQ: Will a 20g belly ring make my hole shrink?
I personally have not had a problem with this. However, several customers have stated that a 20g ring made their hole shrink. Therefore, I would not recommend the 20g ring if you have a newer piercing. Please see the 16g ring section. Many of my customers with older piercings have stated they have not had a problem with shrinking.
FAQ: How sturdy are you belly rings? Can I wear them swimming, etc?
My rings are fairly sturdy, but as stated above, the 20g rings are a much thinner gauge. Therefore, they are by nature more fragile. Furthermore, many of the rings are designed to open and close like a jump ring by bending the wire. Any one who know anything about wire knows that you can only bend a wire so many time before it becomes brittle and eventually breaks. Therefore, I recommend limiting the amount of times you bend these rings. It's probably not the best idea to take them on and off every day if you want them to last. I also recommend bending them as per the included instructions (like a jump ring).
Swimming in chlorinated or salt water may make your jewelry tarnish.
